Julie Lacey
Writer
BIO

Born in Kingston, Ontario and a graduate of Queen's University, Julie Lacey grew up in a hockey world.  But Lacey is much more than a hockey nut who ended up as a professional screenwriter. She has been involved in Canadian television since the early 1980s when, as a school teacher in Banff, she decided to volunteer for the annual TV festival.

After several years at Banff, she decided to take a course in broadcast journalism at Stanford University. From there, Lacey headed to Vancouver where she got a job typing scripts and doing research for Airwolf.   One job led to another. Over the next decade, Lacey worked for Danger Bay, Bordertown, The Adventures of Black Stallion, Lonesome Dove, Ready or Not and Due South.  On the latter, where Lacey was executive story editor, she was nominated for a Gemini for writing the episode "Dead Guy Running."

Since Power Play, for which she won a Gemini award for writing the second season episode "Foolish Hearts", Julie Lacey has moved on to become the head writer and co-producer of I Was a Sixth Grade Alien, the funny live-action kids show.
