Gordon Pinsent
BIO
Gordon Edward Pinsent is an actor, playwright, author and director. He was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland on July 12th, 1930.  Gordon left Newfoundland at the age of 17 and began his career on stage at the Manitoba Theatre Centre, followed by roles at Ontario's Stratford Festival and The Vancouver Playhouse.

In the USA, Gordon appeared in such TV series and movies as It Takes A Thief, Silence of the North, Banacek, and the feature film The Thomas Crown Affair, among others.

More recently, you can see Gordon Pinsent in The Shipping News, with Kevin Spacey and Julianne Moore and in the TV movie Hemingway vs. Callaghan.

He has also been highly successful as a writer. His novels The Rowdyman and John and the Missus were both made into feature films.

Pinsent has received ACTRA Awards for his television work and received 2 Gemini Awards in 1999 : the first for best writing for his screenplay for Win, Again! and the second for his supporting role in Power Play.  Previously, he has received Geminis for his guest appearance on Street Legal and his recurring role on Due South.

Gordon Pinsent is one of our country's most well-respected artists : in 1979 he was given the Order of Canada and in 1997, he received the Earle Grey Award, which is presented to an individual for their exceptional body of work as an actor and their significant contribution to Canadian Television.  In June 2004, Pinsent was the distinguished recipient of the Banff TV Festival's Award of Excellence.

On Power Play, Gordon Pinsent plays the role of Duff McArdle.
