Kari Matchett
BIO
Kari Matchett was born in Alberta and grew up in Saskatchewan.
She is a graduate of the National Theatre School, she also studied Chekov
at the Moscow Theatre School and attended Red Deer College where she got
her start in summer stock.
When Kari landed a role in Once A Thief, Bill Laurin (one of the co-executive
producers of OAT and Power Play) invited her to audition for Power Play and
she got the part. "It shows how one thing can lead to another," says
Matchett, whose career has included a season at Stratford and TV movies including
"Marriage of Convenience", "Undue Influence" and the CTV Mystery "A Colder
Kind of Death".
Her television credits include the recurring role of Siobhan Beckett in
Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict, Tanya in The Rez, and Sheila in
Ready or Not. She's also had guest starring roles on Viper, Poltergeist,
Psi Factor and Forever Knight.
Kari's latest roles are as Kate Filmore in Hypercube - a sequel to the
cult hit Cube. Her co-stars include Geraint Wyn Davies, and Power Play's
Neil Crone. And Jeremy Northam's wife in Cypher, a thriller about
a bored accountant who enters a nightmare world while moonlighting as a
corporate spy.
In 2001, Kari won her first Gemini Award for her guest appearance on Blue
Murder. She received her first nomination in 2000 for Power Play.
