Rose is a sports writer for the Hamilton Spectator newspaper.  Like most journalists, she loves a scoop and doesn't always think of the consequences of her articles.  Although she might appear shy and gullible, "Thorton from the Spectator" knows how to sniff out a story and won't let anything get in the way of her writing.

Rose has dreams of becoming an author, so she is always looking for that perfect subject.  She thought she found it in Brett Parker, but when things turned sour between them, she turned to Harry Strand.

Used to hang around the players and the locker rooms, she is known to have harboured a crush on a certain Finnish player.

On Power Play, the role of Rose Thorton is played by Krista Bridges.
